Seven Teares: Music of John Dowland

Friday, July 9, 7:30 PM
Wartmann Prairie
7356 West Caledonia Road, Edgerton

We invite you to join us to celebrate early music of England with the world-renowned early music violin band, The King's Noyse, as they bring the Renaissance to life in their presentation, "Seaven Teares: Music of John Dowland." In his "Lachrimae," Dowland took conventional themes—despair, numerology, melancholy—and transformed them into musical gold.

The King's Noyse will perform Dowland's collection of dances, along with his songs of love and loss, to paint an indelible musical portrait of Elizabethan life. Renaissance violinists Julie Andrijeski, Brandi Berry, David Douglass, Daniel Elyar, and David Morris are joined by soprano soloist Ellen Hargis and lutenist Dieter Hennings for the concert at Wartmann Prairie.

Sponsored by William Wartmann in partnership with the Madison Early Music Festival, this program will take place at 7:30 pm at Wartmann Prairie, located at 7356 Caledonia Road, Edgerton, Wisconsin. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased in advance through the Edgerton Chamber of Commerce at (608) 884-4408 or at the door.
